About Us Home To Work Ltd is a registered charity and provides
support services for individuals living in our local community. Home to Work
was registered as a charity and company limited by guarantee in 2001. To date
the company has supported over a thousand local social housing tenants through
the provision of gardening and odd job services. Since 2014, through the
introduction of unemployment support programmes via the Skills 4 You projects,
we can engage even more of our community. Skills 4 You was established to
provide access to skills training for disadvantaged individuals residing in
Copeland.
Home to Work is governed by a board of volunteer Trustees
who have agreed Articles of Association. The Articles of Association are
reviewed annually at the AGM.
The Skills 4 You Project consists of activities designed to
help address the high unemployment levels within Copeland. The project offers
practical activities and short courses to individuals aged 18+. The project is
based in the heart of the community we serve, Cleator Moor, and also offers
support to people from areas further afield.
The need for the project was identified through research,
utilising local demographic statistics, as a new and exciting way of assisting
unemployed individuals to take those first tentative steps towards the employment.
We engage and support a minimum of 100 people annually and by default help
their families and friends.
Activities on offer include the following:
Furniture
restoration and recycling of salvaged timber to produce products that our
clients can take home for their personal use or be sold to provide income to
for future resource purchases.
Items produced can be stained or varnished to bring out the
wood grain or they can be decorated by clients in the craft workshop. This
includes painting, decoupage, distressing, in fact any process that the client
